At the Megan Dickinson Floral Design School, you will have the opportunity to share the skills and design philosophy of European-trained floral designer Megan Dickinson.

Megan’s courses will capture your creativity. She will inspire you to create innovative floral designs, exploring both traditional and contemporary styles.

The school offers a wide variety of courses, which accommodate the absolute beginner through to the more experienced student. Each class consists of a demonstration by Megan, followed by a workshop-style tutorial, where students create their own arrangements. This allows the student to master the techniques of the lesson, under the guidance of the tutor.

Classes are small to ensure a rich learning environment. This enables the staff to encourage students to explore and develop their own talents throughout each lesson.

After successfully completing a Diploma in Landscape Design in Auckland, NZ, Megan decided to pursue a career in floristry. Moving to the United Kingdom, she studied at London’s Lady Pulbrook Flower School, then went on to train at the renowned Flora Duchateau in Belgium. Returning to London, she worked as a floral decorator with Susie Edwards Flowers.

Megan then spent two years as a florist in Auckland before once again heading to London, this time to join the Paula Pryke Flowers design team. While in the United Kingdom, Megan also taught workshops independently.

On her return to New Zealand in late 1999, Megan established her Floral Design School in Auckland. This move was inspired by her wish that a school like this had been available to her in New Zealand when she had first wanted to make floristry her career.

Megan is the author of At Home with Flowers and is a regular contributor to the NZ Gardener magazine with her Cutting Edge column. Over the years her innovative designs have featured in magazines, on television and the Internet. She has also created displays and lectured at the Ellerslie Flower Show.
